Trials
Are you wanting to trial a device?
We understand that choosing the right product from our large range can be difficult, so we’ve taken some of the guesswork out of the process by offering several options for short-term trials. Please read the following information carefully. Trials are a partnership between the clinician/therapist and/or client/patient/participant, and Spectronics.
If you would like to talk to someone about trialling a device, please contact us.
Options for trialling devices:
-
30-day Money-Back Guarantee
Customers are welcome to take advantage of our 30-day Money-Back Guarantee to try certain products for 30 days. If a product is unsuitable, it can be returned to us for a refund or exchanged for an alternative. Read more here.
-
Grab & Go "fee waived" trials
Available only for selected items and Local Area practitioners. Experienced clinicians may pick up a device from our office in Underwood, QLD, trial it for a short period, and then return it. Apply here.
-
Short term paid trials
A limited number of products are available for trial for up to 2 weeks for a fee. A percentage of the fee may be credited toward the purchase of the item, provided the purchase is made within the timeframe specified in the Terms and Conditions. These trials must be conducted and supervised by an accredited therapist or clinician. Trial extensions and longer trials may be arranged for additional fees. Apply here.
-
In-Office trials
Customers and therapists are welcome to visit our Underwood QLD office to trial products with the support of one of our staff members. There is no cost for this service, and additional support personnel or clinicians may also attend. Apply here.
-
On Location trials
In rare cases, we may be able to arrange for a staff member to visit and demonstrate certain products. This option is limited to Brisbane and surrounding areas, and a fee will be charged to cover time and travel expenses. Apply here.
Requirements
Spectronics provides these trial opportunities to assist customers in selecting the most suitable device/s. In return, we expect that all trials are genuine and submitted in good faith. Meaning the requester intends to thoroughly explore the capabilities of the device/s to determine whether it meets the user’s needs.
Although most devices are relatively straightforward to set-up, insufficient preparation or product familiarity can contribute to “device abandonment”. Factors such as hasty selection, unclear goals, or a lack of understanding of the device often lead to unsuccessful trials. These issues commonly arise when a device does not align well with the user’s skills, needs, or preferences. For this reason, clinicians/therapists are required to supervise the trial from beginning to end, including initial discussions with our team.
Spectronics may determine that a trial request is not appropriate and reserves the right to decline a request. Some devices may also have special conditions for trial which need to be discussed with our team.
Trial Support
To ensure trials run smoothly, supervising therapists and/or clinicians are expected to complete basic preparation. This includes reviewing user manuals or training materials, and contacting us for initial guidance if needed. In situations where more in-depth support is genuinely required after these steps, additional support options are available, although extra fees may apply.
Trial items
We offer a large range of products for trial, subject to availability. For hygiene reasons however, some products cannot be trialled. Please contact us if you need clarification regarding a specific item.
Low-cost items are only offered through our 30-day Money-Back Guarantee, allowing customers to try an item with the option to return it for a refund or alternative if unsuitable.
Trials Cost
Costs vary depending on the device and the selected trial option. Trial fees may be paid using NDIS funding; however, appropriate approval must be in place before requesting a trial. If you are unsure whether a plan includes trial funding, we recommend contacting the participant’s support coordinator. If trial fee payment cannot be processed for any reason, the trial may need to be rescheduled or delayed until payment is finalised.
Timeframes
There is a waiting period for most trial equipment. Coordinating specific dates can be challenging, particularly with tight deadlines. If you have specific date requirements, our 30-day Money-Back Guarantee may be the best way to proceed.
Additional Fees
Please note that additional fees may apply in certain circumstances. This helps ensure equipment can be maintained, prepared and made available for future trials. These fees include, but are not limited to:
- Late Return fees for equipment not returned by the agreed date.
- Cleaning fees if equipment is returned unclean.
- Repackaging fees if retail packaging is damaged or defaced.
- Replacement fees for damaged, lost, or unsaleable items and/or parts.
- Other applicable charges as outlined in the Trial Terms and Conditions.
Trial Terms and Conditions

- If provided with return labels, they must be attached to the exterior of the parcel packaging, and the equipment must be in its original retail packaging and secured in padded parcel packaging to prevent damage during transport. Once posted, Spectronics must be notified and tracking information shared.

- Any equipment that can save data/voice recordings (such as a C-Pen) must be cleared or have the data removed prior to return, otherwise additional charges may be incurred.
- Any equipment connected to a device via Bluetooth MUST BE unpaired on the device BEFORE returning the equipment. If this is NOT done the equipment may become unusable with other devices and the full value of the equipment will be charged to the organisation/individual signing the Trial Agreement.
- Should any equipment not operate properly when it is received or during the trial period, you MUST notify us immediately upon noticing the malfunction and request instructions.
